I enjoyed reading your posts from day one but anyone can give something up for a day. It takes real discipline to do it over and over to create a new habit. Keep it up and support each other!
I had a good day with my bad habit. I didn't lie and if i was in a situation that i couldn't get out of i asked myself "would God want me to do this." It works every time. I'm glad that it's working because it helps me stop and think before i say things. Thank you everyone for your support. If you have any ideas that can get me to break my bad habit please let me know!!!!!!!
Maybe you can just see the truth or pause a second and think does lying really help me. Lying its like digging yourself in the hole the more you lie the bigger the hole gets. And if you lie a lot people want believe you whenever you tell the truth. Good Luck
Jake every time you want to spend on something take the price of what it would cost and put it in a safe place. After a period of time add up what you saved. Seeing actual evidence that the strategy saves money will help you get a long term picture of the money you can save!
Well today it was hard again. I found myself biting my nails sometimes when I was bored and could find anything to do. Then I would get frustrated with myself. I now have began bouncing my leg up and down to entertain myself and not bite my nails. I hope that painting my nails with nail polish will work so I'm not tempted to and I would want to eat the nail polish. Fingers crossed!!
Good idea Hannah just keep yourself entertain whenever you get that urge to bite your nails. If you keep yourself entertain then the urge would or should go away.
Today did not go has well has a thought I got frustrated at someone and instead of walking away I started to get in a argument with them. I really need to stop getting in arguments and need to learn how to ignore people if they are calling me any names or so for. Because if I get in a argument with someone it is a very immature. Also if I cant ignore what people say about me and I get frustrated and really start to think that those names are true and they are not and that just gets me more frustrated then I was.
Thomas don't worry about what they say you know your smart. Try asking them to stop saying or calling you those names. Because you can do anything you set your mind to. Good luck Thomas!
Thanks hey they don't listen that what gets me even more frustrated so I am really trying just to ignore them and to get less frustrated. Thank You again for the support
I came up with another idea for being lazy on the weekends! What i came up with is shutting my phone of for a couple hours of the day because i spend most of the day on it. So i thought that would be a good idea. It would also help me to do something other than go on my phone..
Today wasn't the best I thought I could have done. There were many distractions that came around but I was able to move myself to a different working area. When it came to the part of my homework to study I was not up to it. Although I didn't want to do it, I knew that I didn't really had a choice and studied the best I could.
Today so far I haven't talked back ! I have been doing my homework without being asked but I have a lot tonight so hopefully I can just calm down and do it because I don't want to have to talk back ! This habit is very hard especially when I have so much homework because I get so stressed out i need to yell ! Overall today has gone good with this habit !
Today I took Mr. Philips' advice and had a small snack 1 hour before dinner. By the time dinner rolled around I was hungary. Thank you for the tip Mr. Phillips!
Today, I started on my homework as soon as i got home. I also found that listening to music while i do my homework helps by motivating me to get it done
^Ha Ha! That's only for some people. For people who listen to Death Metal, (Me) it gets a lot more difficult than doing it without music. In fact, if you run into a problem, it makes you REALLLY want to tear the work in half, cover it with fireworks, and set the thing on fire.
So Nick, it would be wise to not listen to any "Angry" music.
Today I didn't procrastinate as much as I normally do. I got some of the things I had to do or planned on doing done. However I still didn't complete every task like I wanted to. Overall I feel pretty accomplished, but I can do better.
On the good side, I wasn't lazy at all today! I barely went on my phone and I went outside and played with my nephews for an hour. For the total minutes I may have been on my phone was probably 15-30 minutes. I am so happy with the progress I am making!
Today, i didnt touch my ipad when i got home. I made a schedule to pass the time and after that I did my homework that took 40 minutes. I later had a snack and went outside to get some fresh air. when i was outside i felt that i needed to get my ipad so i decided to run. Ater that i went inside and i used it. I took 2hours away from using it. Next time i feel that i might go to my friends house and do some thing fun and energetic than using my ipad. Hope this idea helps me in stoping my habit.
Today i accidentally kicked someone. I just got home 10 minutes ago, and it was quite dark then. It seems now all these accidents happen because my loss of vision. However, i am not at all proud of myself. I came home late with the feeling of no accomplishments. I am very stressed for i have math and social studies to do now. I hpoe this will get my mind off of this failure. Can anyone give me an idea? Much appreciated!
You play soccer and in soccer there eould be times were you kick people but maybe you should try to play has a team and less of a one man show cause your team could get frustrated when you don't pass it and when you do you gget frustrated if they don't get the goal or so and they could yell at you being a one man show in a game. THis may bring that urge to kick if you get that urge maybe you should snap your fingers or kick the grass instead of them
Today has been ok, it has just been weird day. I haven't talked to anyone when i got home and not even really in school so i didn't get frustrated at all. So its nice to have it like this with no fighting and just having it be peaceful.
Just like yesterday, I had a conversation with my parents and had no urges again. MY dad hid the remote away from me as planned. My brother ended up using my laptop for his school work, so that was not an issue either. I am curious to see what would happen when doing this project without my parents' help. I may even put a computer or a remote in front of me to see if I can combat temptations effectively. I think this will be good way to develop self-determination, which is why I love this project.
Good work and good plan also hope it works if I does and you are not tempted then you got really go self determination because it be hard not to get tempted when there right infront of you.
Work is always hard to just do it because it that thing that is horribly and boring but when you come home and do homework you cant take breaks so you wont get stressed out its always good to take a break in between. Good job
Today was much more difficult than yesterday. While using my strategy, I ran into Leo. That led to another thing, which eventually led to us running through a dense, wooded, area. After completely forgetting what I was outside for, we eventually played Minecraft together.
Also, my strategy is taking up valuable time I could be using on getting back to work. It also hurts my legs, after I've gone a few times. I'm completely out of breath by the time I get back to my house, which leads to stress, which pumps more blood through my body, giving me too much energy to do my work.
So therefore, I'm abandoning this strategy, as it's obviously not working. As much as I was hoping it would, I never really expected it to. It just seemed like the easiest thing I could think of at the time.
A possible new strategy for me is to do the work I need to do in a distraction-free room, with the door locked from the outside. After I'm done with my work, I will call to my brother, who will slip some random items under the door to me. With them, I will make a simple door unlocking mechanism. Therefore, I'd be making it into a sort of an "Escape" game. This will prevent me from immediately going directly to procrastinating right after my work's done.
Maybe you should have you parents reminder as soon as you come home. Also maybe you should listen to not heavy rock music but more relaxing music and find a quiet and peaceful spot to do your work and get it done
Today i only watched tv gor about 10 minutes because i played basketball most of the dayI really think playing basketball could be one of my strategies for not watching too much tv.
My older brother is trying to force me to do his Geo homework again. I am going to ace that course without even taking it. My head is going to explode. Thanks for the advice Jeeval.
I'm pretty sure this is waaaaaaaaay off topic, but this blog could really use a chat box. ☺ That way there'd be less spam on the comment section on the forums, and quicker answers to questions. ☺
They're also not very difficult to add. All you need to do is enter a simple HTML code. There's also a ton of sites that allow you to create one.
Not sure what you mean Steve but please share with me and the class tomorrow! Anything to make the site better imam up for. Remember to get your responses professional and use proper grammar. Thank you!
What I meant was a live chat box for the blog. I said "Forum" on the original post/comment because I'm used to posting suggestions for websites on forums. It's just a force of habit.
The chat box would be used to talk to other classmates who are on the blog. It would help faster replies for help. For example, someone asking for advice would originally have to post a reply to the main post, then wait some time for an answer. With the chat box, someone could just ask for advice, and it'd go to everyone online.
They're quite simple to add once you've found out how. But explaining it is complicated. I can make a video tutorial if you'd like me to.
Today I went for a 3 mile walk. Getting this bad habit into a daily routine is going to be hard especially with what has happened. I will not give up. P.S. Mr. Phillips can I talk to you tomorrow in school.
I am so proud of everyone for bringing out the true spirit of SPCC! Your comments and hard work are so evident. I just to home from class and enjoyed reading all of your posts and support and am taking back by every's sincerity. Thank you! As for my day habit of not texting I am doing well. I have not sent a text out since Monday while behind the wheel. I realize that this will be a life long struggle and know that it only takes one time to cause permenant damage to myself or others. I keep remembering to shut my phone off once I start driving. Thanks to this project I remember to shut th phone off so I really need to put a reminder in the car to trigger myself to shut the phone off before I turn the key. Also today is my workout day off because I don't get home fom class until 9:30 so tomorrow I'm back on the saddle. Day 41 and it is a tough workout! Keep up the good work everyone!
Yesterday I had no trouble in regards with playing too many video games or watching too much t.v. I did my homework for most of the day. When I was done with that I had gone outside for about 20-30 minutes then it was time for dinner and then bed. I do plan on going outside for a lot longer of a time than 30 minutes. Also, during dinner however I did watch t.v. for about 40 minutes, which i suppose is better than my usual all day! I think that I will be able to break this habit in due time.
Day two didn't go so well. I was up late doing my homework and I always have music from my iPod playing. Also when I was done with my homework I went on it. I didn't shut it off until 11:00. Something that could help me from doing that again would be to just shut it off right when I was done with my homework. Even though I didn't go through on the second day, I know I can do this with the support from everyone!
Yesterday I bit my nails 5 times total. I did on e during math and 4 times at night while I was relaxing. It is hard not to but I did a pretty good jib yesterday. I look to improve and stop biting my nails all together
Today was ok. I didn't lie at all. I used Thomas's advice on seriously telling the truth.Thank you for your support. I am going to keep working on telling the truth. My goal is to break this bad habit by the end of the year.
I notice that you have not made one today so I'm going to post this .today went bad I was very tented to by breakfast because I for got to eat at home but in stead I ate some of my lunch on the bus
I am going to post here for now... If he makes a day three, i will do it there. But today was neutral. I did not have soccer, racquetball, or tennis today. I guess that sums it up. However, i will be more than happy to help comment for advice for the rest of you people
Read Mr. Phillips' last comment; He said he's not getting home until 9:30. Not sure if he meant AM, or PM, but I'm guessing that it has something to do with him not posting day 3.
I am going to post here too. Today wasnt that bad i didnt touch my ipad but i still touched jakes and that is still have it in my system. When i got home my mom took my ipad and i did not see it for the rest of the day. I was ok with that because i toushed an ipad. i did my homework, i helped my mom with things and i play a game with my littel brother. I was busy today and it was fun. This helps me stop my habit
Well I'll post my progress for day 3 here for now. Today wasn't too bad. The only time I was on my phone while doing my homework was to ask someone a question. After I did that my phone rang! I forgot to turn my phone off and I was so tempted to text the person back but I stopped myself and said "The text isn't important." I then began to start my homework again and when it came to my math homework, I got stressed out! I was very confused and tried to solve the problems the best I could. I am happy with the progress I did today and I hope I can keep it up. Thank you everyone for the support!
I had basketball practice as soon as i got home. i wasnt able to get home until 7. i did finish all my homework but it was hard to stay focus because i wanted to go to sleep. it took me longer than it shouldve of but i got it done
Well, I'm tired of waiting for day 3. I'm going to post mine here, like you all are doing.
Today went well. I got home, went into my basement, emptied a large closet area, and closed the door. It worked very well. I didn't get distracted, so I wasn't led to putting my work off to another time, in substitute for doing another thing. The only problem is I couldn't lock the door. But why would I want to? Am I so large of a procrastinator that I cant even trust myself? All in all, my strategy worked for today. I didn't procrastinate, until I had to clean my room. I got distracted with the cool things I found, which led to me building a large Lego structure. After I finished, I realized I procrastinated. Immediately after realizing, I finished my room.
Does anyone have any advice I can use to not procrastinate on a physical task?
(I'll post on day 3, as soon as it's been posted.)
Also, is anyone else having the glitch when you comment on the Blog post, but instead it replies to another comment? It's happened the last few times I've posted. (Which is the reason of me having deleted replies to some of your comments)
There you go woody! Take 10 minutes typing! Good job everyone! There is no day three and today is day four. It was probably a misunderstanding, or Mr.Phillips used the app in the car and forgot to press 'publish''. Accidents happen!
Yesterday was better than the day before. but yesterday there was a lot of fighting and it made me so stressed out that i began to just give up. and im still stressed out this morning .
I guess I'll post here for now but anyway its been going and I've gotten up at the correct time every day so far. I'm a little tired but other than that everything is going good.
I had a good day with my bad habit. I didn't lie and if i was in a situation that i couldn't get out of i asked myself "would God want me to do this." It works every time. I'm glad that it's working because it helps me stop and think before i say things. Thank you everyone for your support. Deletethis morning i was temtid to buy my breakfast and i dint i mad it at my moms work and it allgood

DeleteGood idea Hannah just keep yourself entertain whenever you get that urge to bite your nails. If you keep yourself entertain then the urge would or should go away.
Deletetry doing something that you like to do, if you have fun the time will pass like nothing.
DeleteThx Nick, Thomas and Vanessa for the support!

ReplyDeleteYour computer is not broken he has not have time to make day 3 yet
DeleteRead Mr. Phillips' last comment; He said he's not getting home until 9:30. Not sure if he meant AM, or PM, but I'm guessing that it has something to do with him not posting day 3.

DeleteI am going to post here too.
ReplyDeleteWell I'll post my progress for day 3 here for now.

ReplyDeleteWell, I'm tired of waiting for day 3. I'm going to post mine here, like you all are doing.
ReplyDeleteToday went well.
Umm I have an extra lock if you want one...
DeleteThere you go woody! Take 10 minutes typing! Good job everyone! There is no day three and today is day four. It was probably a misunderstanding, or Mr.Phillips used the app in the car and forgot to press 'publish''. Accidents happen!
